Brothers

Ponyboy Curtis and Johnny Cade's adventures have taken them from fugitives to heroes, but it all came back to family. Their family of teens with troubled homes, dropouts and orphans stayed together because they're all they've got. Keith Mathews, Dallas Winston, Steve Randle, Sodapop and Darrel Curtis - they have their own life and part of it is a war with the Socs. That war got to be to much to handle, though, after Johnny died to save the children in the church. Dally killed himself pulling an unloaded gun on the police after Johnny's death, and the rest of the gang was shattered. They picked up the pieces, and even though it will take them a long time to rebuild, they still have to keep living. Ponyboy will watch sunsets, and Darry won't work quite so much, and Soda will keep them together. Things won't be easy, or even steady, but they'll live. They have to.

Juvenile Delinquents Turn Hero

It has been discovered that the heroes of the recent church fire match the descriptions of the missing boys from the East Side. Johnny Cade, 16, and Ponyboy Curtis, 14, were lost one week ago shortly after the murder of Robert Sheldon, 17. They were injured badly in the fire, and were brought to a local hospital, where their identities were discovered. Upon regaining consciousness, the two boys admitted to the murder. However, those who witnessed the murder have testified that they were drunk and looking for a fight.
Johnny Cade's back was broken by a piece of falling timber, and Dallas Winston, who may have been an accomplice in the murder, had his arm badly burned when he went in to save his friends. Ponyboy Curtis has suffered minor burns but will make a full recovery inside a week. There has been no word on whether Cade will survive.

Ponyboy Curtis is one of three brothers who were struggling to stay together. Sodapop and Darrel Curtis were each working to support the family after their parents died some months ago. Darry is 21, Soda 16, and have been keeping Ponyboy in school and living all on their own. But they were recently discovered after Ponyboy was involved in a murder, and a hero rescue. The boys have taken everything so far, but will a court order split them up? Ponyboy Curtis and Johnny Cade will be tried for murder, then the judge will test whether Darrel Curtis is an acceptable guardian. 

Burning Church

A church burned down in Windrixville near Jay Mountain. Our sources say that a group of school children aged 7-8 were having a picnic nearby when the fire started. Several of the children were trapped inside the church, and if not for three mysterious heroes, probably would have died before the authorities arrived. "They drove up in a Thunderbird, and the oldest couldn't have been much older than 19", says a school teacher who witnessed the rescue. "They asked about the church, and when we realized that there were children trapped inside, the two young men, looked maybe 14 and 16 years old, charged into the church and saved the children. But one of them couldn't get out fast enough, and that was when the oldest one went in to save his friend." The boys were hustled off to the hospital, but one of them had been hit by falling timber and was suffering from second-degree burns. There has been no word yet of his survival. Were these three angels? Professional heroes? Or just caring passerby? And more importantly, who are they?

Missing

Reported missing: Johnny Cade, age 16, small build, boyish looks, long hair, large black eyes. Ponyboy Curtis, age 14, small build, long hair, grey-green eyes. They were last seen in the drive-in movie, seated, with Cherry Valence, Dallas Winston, and Marcia Watterson. These disappearances may be connected to the recent murder of Robert Sheldon. Both of the missing boys are 'greasers', and witnesses present at the murder say that this Johnny Cade fits the description of the murderer. All the witnesses are the 'Socs' who were jumping the murderers, however, and in their drunken state might have overlooked details. The disappearance and the murder could be purely coincidence.

West Side Teen Killed

Robert Sheldon was found dead in East Side Park, killed by a knife to the stomach. Apparently, he and his friends had been drunk and looking for trouble, and had jumped the wrong hoods. No other murders have been reported, but this can't be the first time something like this has happened. Authorities have recently become aware of a small war being waged between the East Side "greasers" and the socially elite, West Side "Socs" (so-shuz). This rivalry might have been caused by the difference in situations. These 'greasers', are teens from poor, working, class families, or in some cases orphans or dropouts, some as young as 16. In contrast, the 'Socs' are rich, popular, and apparently, bored to death.
